The following workshops will be part of preK teacher professional development series, but will be available here after presented. Contact the Center to schedule a consultation about professional development or request a workshop.
  •     Early Literacy Development: A Continuum from Birth to Age Five
  •     Ramping up the Print-Rich Environment to Integrate Meaningful Literacy throughout the Day
  •     Interactive Read Alouds in Preschool:  Engaging Children in Many Different Types of Books to Build General Knowledge of the World and  Reading 
  •     Shared Reading in Preschool: Developmentally Appropriate Practices for Supporting the Development of Concepts about Print
  •     Interactive Writing in Preschool: Supporting Concepts about Print and Alphabetic Principle in Meaningful Contexts
  •     Nursery Rhymes and Poetry for Developing Phonological Awareness and Concepts about Print 
  •     What’s in a Name?  Using Children’s Names as a Starting Point for Developing Alphabet Knowledge

Teachers 

Seminars for teachers will provide an opportunity for professional development credit and cover current, practical issues in literacy education.
