READING INTERVENTION
INTENSIVE READING INSTRUCTION
The clinic provides reading intervention classes designed for elementary school children (entering grades K-6) who need intensive instruction in reading due to characteristics of dyslexia and dyslexia. Teachers will use a structured literacy approach with dyslexia-specific intervention methods and materials including SPIRE and Basic Language Skills. If space allows, students who need additional support but not intensive intervention can be placed with undergraduate students.
THERAPISTS AND INSTRUCTORS
- Therapists – Faculty with PhDs in reading education and CALT certification (Certified Academic Language Therapists)
- Master Teachers – Faculty and Certified Teacher Dyslexia Therapists in training or CALP certification (Certified Academic Language Practitioners)
- Graduate Students – Certified teachers with reading intervention training
- Undergraduate Students – Teacher education students with reading intervention methods coursework
