The Belser-Parton Literacy Center needs UA student volunteers for Spring 2017. Volunteer opportunities include tutoring children in reading, helping with school reading events, and online remote tutoring. These hours are available to be logged as service hours through SLPro for students needing service hours for class credit.
Tutoring children in reading will take place at the Literacy Center. Dates and times are still to be determined, however, it will take place in the late afternoon/evening.
Remote tutoring will be held in Graves 107 on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30. We need volunteers to Skype with students from Greensboro and read with them over Skype! They will have a copy of the book and the volunteer will have a copy as well. The tutor will work with the student on reading skills and will read the book with their student!
Family Literacy will take place at Northington Elementary School on Wednesdays from 7:50-9:00 a.m. This is a great opportunity to work with kids who are ages 4 and under and to promote reading and literacy!
If you are interested in becoming a tutor, please complete the form to the left.
